Toast of the Titans, February 1st, 2009

Greetings Fellow Titan Toastmasters!

Announcements:

We have an open speeking slot for Monday's meeting. If you have a speech that you are working on and would like to give it a shot tomorrow, please contact me and I'll get you added to the roster.

Mark your calendars! We are approaching the spring contest time again, with the Titan Toastmasters club contest arriving in 3 weeks (2/23/09). We need participants, we need judges, and we need timers. Help us achieve great success by volunteering today! John Gies will be chairing the contest, so if you have any questions, just ask!

After the club contest, we will have our Area contest on April 4th, the Division contest on April 25th, the District contest on May 15th - 17th, and this year, Denver is hosting the Regional contest in June from the 19th to the 21st! It's sure to be an exciting time here for us.

Talking Up Toastmasters Campaign officially starts today. Let's rally together, get the word out, and add another ribbon to the Toastmasters Banner - just 5 new members will not only add that ribbon, but it will also take us back to having 20 members, a key requirement to maintaining our status as President's Distinguished club. Here is a little more information about this event from JP Snow, ACB, ALB D26 Public Relations Officer
What method of publicity is most effective at bringing potential new members to our clubs? Despite the growing importance of the Web and continued success through various media outlets, the consensus I’ve heard from VP’s of PR during our first two TLI sessions is that “word of mouth” is still the leading source of visitors. With our “Talk UpToastmasters” campaign now active, it’s the perfect time to emphasize personal contact as a way to attract new members.

One of the benefits of a personal invitation is that it extends the Toastmasters program to people who might not otherwise consider it. Websites are a great way to help visitors find a specific club, but it depends on them first knowing about Toastmasters and taking that first step. When we “Talk Up Toastmasters,” we increase our growth beyond the natural flow of new members who are already seeking us out.

Get ready for your roles on Monday! Below are a few of the highlights. Be sure to check the attached schedule to make sure you have your role covered.
